DESCRIPTION: One of the parasitsing smut fungi that changes the appearance of the host's white anthers into a mass of chocolate brown spores. SPORES: The spores are round, patterned with a thick network and measure 6.5um to 8.2um (Link). HABITAT: On the anthers of Soapwort (Saponaria officinalis) flowers. SEASON: Uncommon. Usually seen from July to September.
